Capital Junk and our bin rental division Capital Bins recently worked with a local media company that filmed and is producing ten, one minute long informational videos for everyone to watch and get educated about topics that we thought were important to us, our customers and the residents of Ottawa. They are based a lot on the types of blogs that you will find on our Capital Bins site as well as Capital Junk. Ottawa is one of the coldest Capitals in the world, not really the most appealing stat for this beautiful city we live in but boy it sure does get cold. The cost of oil is rising and increasing the cost of energy at alarming rates, so I thought it might be a good idea to share some tips on how to reduce your energy output this winter without sacrificing your comfort at home. 1. Cover the windows – So this past weekend I decided to be proactive and put plastic up to all my windows. You can buy this easy to use product at any Canadian Tire or Wal-Mart. It is extremely easy to use and the benefits are incredible. It keeps the cold draft out and the heat in. It is beneficial to old and new windows; you can never be too efficient!

It’s time for the kids to go back to school; this is a great opportunity to teach your children everyday about the importance of being green. There are many ways in which your children can be green at home, as well as at school. Here are just 3 easy ways for your kids to be more environmentally friendly at school. - Use Less Paper- make sure that when you are writing your assignments and taking notes in class to use both sides of the paper. There is an enormous amount of paper wasted each day in school and this is a very simple way of reducing that waste. Also keep a box of scrap paper from all the paper that you didn’t use that doesn’t have any writing on one side. Hoarding is the excessive acquisition of possessions (and failure to use or discard them); even if the items are worthless, hazardous, or unsanitary. Compulsive hoarding impairs mobility and interferes with basic activities, including cooking, cleaning, hygiene, sanitation, and sleeping (Wikipedia).
Hoarding creates chaos in the lives of individuals as well as the families as people battle what some doctors believe is a mental illness. It is believed that 1-2% of the population have hoarding issues.

Chronic disorganization is similar to hoarding in the fact that both types of people cannot help but create chaos in their life with clutter that interrupts their daily lives.
